Historical Renovation, Restoration

At Brereton/Liggett Project
Preservation of our nation's historic buildings and character has long been an objective of Perdue's work as an architect. He was at the forefront of the effort to bring back downtown Jacksonville, beginning with his purchase of the Western Union Building, a landmark building constructed in the 1920's. This successful restoration project resulted in the renamed Galleria, one of the first mixed-use retail and commercial office buildings in Jacksonville.
He went on to complete numerous renovation projects in downtown Jacksonville, including DAA's office on Florida Avenue, built in 1912. His most noteworthy renovation project to date has been the 1887 Building, the oldest commercial structure in Jacksonville. In 1980 the building was included in the National Register of Historic Places, and two years later DAA renovated the building into a mixed-use commercial office building still recognized today for its rich history.
In 2001 Perdue joined the City of Savannah's Design and Construction Group. As City Architect for Savannah, Georgia, he understood that incorporating the new while maintaining the character of this historic city was a key objective.
