In early 1998 Gumberg Asset Management commenced a major renovation and expansion project, completed by Tom Perdue and Design Affiliation Architecture in 2001.

Perdue's design for the  center blended with surrounding structures, creating a clean new look for the area.

Coral Ridge Mall became home to the first Target store to be included as an anchor tenant in a mall environment. This store quickly became one of the most successful Target stores in the U.S. for over six years. Additional tenants included Old Navy, TJ Maxx, Homegoods, Marshall's, Gateway Country, Einstein Brothers Bagels, Payless Shoes, Lerner's, GNC, Luggage Shop, Famous Footwear, Hallmark Cards and Tracy's Swimwear.

The mall is also home to a U.S. Post Office and Gumberg Asset Management corporate offices. The new interior featured imported Italian tile (which is also used in the Vatican), enhanced lighting and green elements along with a remodeled food court.

In May 2000 Coral Ridge Mall was awarded a Community Appearance Award for Outstanding Achievement in Urban Environmental Design by the city of Fort Lauderdale. The mall is now a proud entry among South Florida's central power centers.
